DeNami Sketch Challenge #8

Hi there! It's time for a brand new challenge at DeNami Design! This time around it's a sketch challenge! I LOVE sketch challenges, especially when I need a little MOJO boost! And just look at this super fun and versatile sketch from my fellow DT gal, Wendy:

Soooooo many possibilities with this one, my crafty friends! Here's what I came up with:

Aren't those little owls from the Owls Stamp Set PF32 totally ADORABLE?!?! I popped a few of them up to add some dimension and thought they'd look extra cute against a woodgrain embossed background!

I stamped the top green panel with the leaves from the Elegant Floral Stamp Set PF37. I stamped the "Owl Always Be Your Friend" sentiment onto a white rectangular panel and then used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to stamp the bottom part of one of the owls. Then, I stamped the complete owl, colored him, cut him out, and paper pieced him onto the panel.

The patterned paper is from Cosmo Cricket's Joy Ride Collection. You know I just can't resist using polka dots! HA!

So...who's ready to ink up their DeNami Design stamps and play along with this sketch challenge?!?! Remember...there's a FABULOUS prize to be won!!!! Click HERE to head on over to the DeNami Design Blog for all of the challenge details and more inspiration from the AMAZINGLY talented DT!!!

Hello there! Challenge #7 over at Off the Wall Craftiness is to create a card/project using BIRDS. Here's what I came up with:

A few weeks ago I won "Card of the Week" over at 2 Sketches 4 You and part of the prize package included an incredible stack of BoBunny stickers from Shanna Vineyard! I have been itching to put these stickers to use since they arrived in the mail!!! The tag sentiment with the sweet little birdie is from one of these sticker sets ("Family Deerest"), and I thought it was the perfect starting point for this challenge!

The birdhouses (Hero Arts) are just stamped onto scraps of patterned paper and then cut out. A little ribbon, some twine, a button, and VOILA!

Hope you like it! Thanks for stopping by!

DeNami Design Theme Challenge #1

Happy Friday, blog friends! Today I'm sharing a card I made for the DeNami Design's "Spring" Challenge! Click HERE to find out how you can play along!!!

The sweet "Round Leafy Tree" image is from DeNami Design. I colored it with my Copic Sketch Markers and then added some sparkle with my Clear Stardust Glitter Pen. I colored the leaves green because I wanted a "Springy" look, but I love how you could change this up for Autumn by coloring the leaves red/orange/yellow. Here's a close-up:

I used the new "Background Basics: Woodgrain" (Papertrey Ink) to create the background! (I'm seeing panels of this in a variety of colors in my future!!!) I die-cut the scallop strips from patterned paper and vintage cream cardstock on my Epic Six machine using the Medium Scallop Die from PTI. Then I stamped the vintage cream scallop with "Background Basics: Text Style II" (PTI). I created the rick rack with the Rick Rack Die from PTI.

I added the button at the last minute because I felt like I needed one additional touch of green.

One more thing before I go...

EBTKS Challenge #12 - String

Hello! It's a beautiful, sunshiney day here in the mountains of Colorado! Today I have two cards to show you. The first is my take on the latest "Everything But The Kitchen Sink (EBTKS) Challenge," which requires the use of string. Click HERE for the challenge details (there's still time to play along)!

This card was really simple to put together. I used a scalloped notecard from the Yours Truly line at Archivers. I chose three bright colors of floss and wrapped them in a pattern around the notecard. The little scalloped notches hold the floss in place. Then, I finished it off with layers of punch-outs from my "Fresh Print Cherry" tablet (Deja Views). Simple. No stamping on this one (first time EVER, I think...wink!)! I left the card blank so that I can use it for any occasion (birthday, thank you, anniversary, etc.).

What do you think?

I also wanted to show you another card that I made for the auction at my friend's school.

This one uses a sentiment and the "Large Chickie" image from DeNami Design. Isn't he so stinkin' cute? I love how you can dress him up for different holidays, celebrations, seasons!! I made the hat from a scrap piece of patterned paper (SEI) and topped it with a little pom-pom that I had leftover from a craft I did with my students. I cut the cupcake from a piece of patterned paper in "The Sweet Matstack" (Die Cuts With A View). I used my Copic markers to add some shading and color to Mr. Chickie!

Leave me a comment and let me know what you think! I'd love to hear from you!!

And there's still time to enter for a chance to win my blog candy!!!! Click HERE for the details!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a FABULOUS day!!!!!

EBTKS Challenge #11

Hi there! The most recent challenge over at "Everything But The Kitchen Sink" is a sketch challenge, and it's a goodie!!!! There's still time to play along!! The challenge ends tomorrow (3/24) at midnight! Click HERE for all of the details and to check out the fabulous creations submitted by all of the participants!

Here's the sketch:

And here's what I came up with:

You'll notice that I flipped the sketch 90 degrees. I created the pattern on the left-hand side of the panel using the banner images from "Look Up!" (Practicing Creativity). I'm so happy with the way it turned out! Can't wait to try it with other color combos as well! The sentiment is from the "New Baby" stamp set by Martha Stewart! I think it fits perfectly with the hot air balloons and the color scheme!!!

Here's a close-up of the pattern I created:

The hot air balloon in the center was stamped on patterned paper, and then I adhered it with pop dots. The polka dot balloon was stamped on gray cardstock and adhered with double-sided tape. The solid balloon was stamped directly onto the panel.

One last view:

Let me know what you think! And click HERE to enter for a chance to win my blog candy!!!

We are in the midst of a crazy Spring snowstorm here in the mountains! It's GORGEOUS!!! I'm hoping we get enough to go on a snowshoe treck!!!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Kazan's Sketch #47

Hey there! Today I'm sharing a card I created using Kazan's Sketch #47 over at 2 Sketches 4 You. Click HERE to see the original sketch and lots of wonderful creations from the DT and the challenge participants. If you're ever in a creative slump and need some inspiration, this sketch challenge is a fabulous place to start! And...this week is extra special because DeNami Design is the sponsor and is offering up a super sweet prize! I LOVE their products!!!

I stamped my little Leafy Sprig (DeNami Design) a bunch of times in VersaMark ink and then heat embossed them with "Powder" Zing! Embossing Powder (American Crafts). I heat embossed the Dots (Endless Creations) and the Demi Double Circle (DeNami Design) with "White" Zing! Embossing Powder. The white and aqua papers are metallic cardstock (The Paper Company), so they have lots of shimmer to them.

Here's a close-up:

Another SFYTT

Hi there! Here's a card I created using Jen Del Muro's "Sketch For You To Try" (SFYTT) from February 13th! You can click HERE to check out the sketch and to learn more about the UNBELIEVABLE PRIZE PACKAGE Jen has up for grabs this month!!!

I designed this card for my friends' handsome baby boy, Jonathan! Jonathan was born 15 weeks early and after spending three and a half months in the NICU he's finally home!!! And...I'm thrilled to report that he's doing GREAT!!! It's truly amazing! I am so incredibly happy and excited for my dear friends and their little bundle of joy, so I just HAD to create an extra special card for them!!!

I always like the comfy cozy feel of cards created with stitching, but I'm definitely no seamstress!! I recently purchased a Bazzill Basics "In Stitch'Z" to help me out!! I used it on this card to create the zig-zag stitching around the edges. How did I do? Then I free-hand stitched the little swirly below the airplane. What do you think?

I wrote Jonathan's name on the banner to personalize the card! Cute, huh? Here's a close-up:

I hope your week gets off to a wonderful start! I'm heading to town to grocery shop and run errands!
