Birthday Tulips

I'm back with a second post today to share a card I made for my friend's birthday! I used this GORGEOUS color story from the Play Date Cafe Challenge:

...and this AWESOME sketch from Card Patterns Sketch Challenge:

Here's my creation:

When I was at Archivers yesterday having a FABULOUS time getting inky with my sweet friends, Michele and Laura, I saw these patterned papers and couldn't resist buying them!! They're from the new Lost and Found Two: Rosy collection! LOVE them!!! And since my friend's favorite flowers are tulips, I thought this Brushed Tulips image from DeNami was a perfect choice for the focal point. I don't have a coral marker, so I paper pieced the tulips with Desert Coral cardstock (Bazzill Basics) and used that same color for my scallops too! Here's a closer look:

I stamped the sentiment inside the card this time around! I just LOVE this whimsical font!

Well...that's it for me...for today at least! HA! Hope you have a FABULOUS weekend!!

Grandma's 80th Birthday and News!!!

Hello there, blog friends! Hope you are enjoying your summer!!! We have been SO SUPER busy (thus my lack of posts), but things will soon settle down a bit and I'll have more time for stamping and blogging again!

We recently took a trip to Pittsburgh to visit family and friends! It was SO NICE to catch up with everyone!!! And during that same trip we attended a wonderful party for my grandma's 80th birthday!!! Here are the invitations I created for this very special event:

My grandma's favorite flowers are violets, so the "Year of Flowers: Violets" stamp set from Papertrey Ink was a perfect fit! The "It's a Party" sentiment is from DeNami Design---I just LOVE that whimsical font---soooo pretty! And the giant frame is from Hero Arts!

To make the flowers extra fun and spunky (just like my grandma), I first stamped polka dots in VersaMark ink, then stamped the violets and cut them out. I also added a touch of sparkle to the centers of the flowers with a Spica glitter pen.

To complete the package, I made coordinating envelopes and seals. Here's a peek at those:

I used DeNami Design's Medium Polka Dots for the polka dots on the envelopes. It's the ideal size to create a decorative area to nest an address label within.

My grandma LOVED the invitations, and I was so happy to be able to create something extra special to celebrate what an AMAZING lady she is!! (In a couple of days I'll be back with a post to show you the sets of blank thank you notes I made for her as a birthday gift *wink*)

NEWS: Tomorrow (Friday, July 8th) I am being featured on Noor Nahdi's blog as part of her "Fascinating Fridays" series!!! How exciting!!! Thanks to Noor and her FABULOUS team for giving me this opportunity! I am truly honored!! I'd LOVE for you to stop by Noor's beautiful blog, Paperie Designs' Studio, to check out my interview! Thanks, friends!!

MORE NEWS: If you're in the Colorado area the Rubber Stamp and Scrapbook Expo is taking place in Loveland this weekend (July 9th and 10th) and in Colorado Springs next weekend (July 16 and 17th)! I'll be working at the DeNami Design booth! Stop by to say HI and watch Nami demonstrate her INCREDIBLE creativity!!!!

Have you seen this cutie???

Hello! It's Product Spotlight time at DeNami Design and today we're featuring this cutie:

Isn't he the sweetest little thing?!?! And I think he's perfect for BABY cards! Here's my creation:

I thought it would be fun to give him some friends. So, I stamped him a bunch of times in a row (using masking and my handy dandy Stamp-A-Ma-Jig). Then, I stamped him several more times on scrap pieces of cardstock, cut them out, and layered them at different heights to add dimension.

I also used the Small Baby Script E68, which I absolutely LOOOVVEEE, and the Polka Dot Background N133!

Be sure to visit the DeNami Design Blog to see all of the creative ways my fellow DT gals and Guest Designer, Dana, used the Giraffe image too!!!

Thanks for stopping by! Hope you're having a FABULOUS week!

Onesies

Hi there! I'm SO EXCITED to be the Guest Designer at Card Patterns this week!!! Their sketches are super fun and their DT always provides incredible creative inspiration!!! A BIG THANK YOU to the Card Patterns team for giving me this wonderful opportunity!

Here's the sketch for this week:

And here's my take on it:

I LOVE this patterned paper! It's from the Fine and Dandy: True Blue collection by My Mind's Eye, and I think it's so perfect for baby cards! The little onesie image and sentiment are from DeNami Design---ADORABLE! I just stamped the onesie several times on different patterned papers, cut them out, and used the clothespins to hang them from the twine!

The white portion of the background actually has embossed polka dots on it, which looks really cute with the polka dotty clouds. I wish they would have shown up better in the photos.

Thanks for stopping by today!!! Be sure to check out the Card Patterns Blog to see the FABULOUS samples created by the DT and for all of the details about how you can participate in this week's challenge!

Home Tweet Home

Hello! It's Product Spotlight Day at DeNami Design, and today we're featuring the super cute Spring Chicks Stamp Set PF38.

That adorable little birdhouse is my favorite image in this stamp set, so I decided to create a gift box using the birdhouse as my focal point. Have you ever tried DeNami Design's Gift and Favor templates? They come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and they're so super easy and lots of fun to use! Here, I used the Small Gift Box Template GF01.

I started by cutting the template along the solid lines. I flipped the template over, stamped the leaves from the Elegant Floral Stamp Set PF37 all over (leaving the top flap blank), and colored them with my Copic Sketch Markers. I stamped the top flap with Medium Polka Dots N136. Then, I scored the template along the dotted lines, applied double-sided tape to the side flaps, and assembled the box. Piece of cake!

I punched a fancy square from a scrap of white cardstock, stamped Leafy Sprig D108 in the center, added some faux stitching with a fine tip brown marker, and matted the square in blue. I stamped the birdhouse from the Spring Chicks Stamp Set PF38 on a white scrap, colored it with Copic Sketch Markers, fussy cut it and popped it up just below the Leafy Sprig.

The sentiment, Home Tweet Home D131, is a single stamp, but I inked each word up separately, so I could spread the words out around the front of the box.

I think this would make a sweet little package for a housewarming gift. It's not quite big enough to hold a gift card, but you could fill it with handmade magnets, tea bags, a cute keychain for the new house key, etc.

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you like my creation! Be sure to visit the DeNami Design Blog to see what the rest of the talented DT made with the Spring Chicks Stamp Set PF38!!

Thanks

Hi there! Just wanted to pop in really quickly to share a thank you card I made! In my Shop 52 Denver post yesterday I mentioned that I purchased a decorated coffee scoop for our friends who invited us to their home to watch the Steeler game on Sunday. Since it was meant to be a gift, the store was kind enough to wrap it up for me! Look at this gorgeous package!!!

I used the wrapping as inspiration to create this thank you card:

The design on the wrapping paper reminded me of the Medium Solid Filigree E116 image from DeNami Design! So, I broke out the Stamp-a-ma-jig and stamped the filigree image all over a kraft cardstock panel. Then, I added the diamond from Build a Border by Schlosser Designs. I think it creates a pretty cool pattern!

I placed the package, the card, and a bag of freshly ground coffee into a little metallic brown gift bag and TA-DA---all set!!!!

Friends Fur-Ever

Today is an exciting day because it's time to kick off the first DeNami Design Challenge of 2011!!! This time around it's a Sketch Challenge! Click HERE for all of the details!

Here's the sketch created by my fellow DT member, Laurie (isn't it fabulous?):

And here's my creation:

I have been so anxious to ink up the new Cuddly Cats PF46 from DeNami Design, so I KNEW I wanted to use them in this card! Aren't they ADORABLE?!?!
I hand stamped the argyle panel using a combination of the Harlequin Border and Stitched Border stamps from DeNami Design! After doing so, I made the executive creative decision to turn my middle panel so that it worked better and showed off more of this argyle panel...hope that's okay *wink*

To make the cats look like they were sitting on a wall I used my Martha Stewart Scoring Board and scored two horizontal lines. Then, I flipped my paper 90 degrees and scored shorter offset lines to look like bricks. I was pretty content with it, but then my friend, Vicki, who works at the local Archivers suggested I ink it up to emphasize the scored lines! So, I rubbed Rich Cocoa Memento ink all over the surface of the panel and VOILA! Love the results!! Thanks, Vicki!

I stamped the Cuddly Cats two times each, colored them with my Copic Sketch Markers, fussy cut them, and popped them up with Pop Dots for added dimension. That cat on the left looks just like my sweet little Oliver James---he always tucks his paws under like that! It's so stinkin' cute!

And how about that sentiment?!? Such a sweet play on words, huh?

So, what do you think? Are you ready to play along? I hope so!!! I look forward to seeing your creations!!! It's always so much fun to see all of the different ways people interpret the same sketch!! Head on over to the DeNami Design Blog for all of the deets and to check out some amazing inspiration from the Design Team!!! It's sure to get your mojo going!

With Love

Hi there! Some of my fellow DeNami DT gals have been talking about and participating in the Color Q Challenges recently, so I thought I'd check it out!!! And when I saw the most recent color combo (ahhhh...GORGEOUS), I just knew I had to play along!!!

Here's what I came up with:

I inked up my Three Line Border N128 stamp (DeNami Design) in black ink and created a criss-cross pattern on white cardstock. Then I punched out the scalloped heart. The tiny hearts in the center are from the newly released Hearts Stamps Set PF43 (DeNami Design)---LOVE THOSE! I just stamped them in aqua ink and cut them out to create a trio.

The whimsical little "with love" sentiment is from the Love Sentiments Stamp Set PF42, which just released on January 1st! I LOVE how the "i" is dotted with a teeny heart! My parents gave me a Michaels gift card for Christmas, and one of the things I bought was the Lace Heart border punch from Martha Stewart! I think it's so pretty!!!

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you're having a fantastic week! Be sure to stop by the Color Q Challenge Blog for all of the details about how you can play along and to see all of the AWESOME cards created by the other participants!

Season's Tweetings

Hi there! Today I'm sharing a card I created for the most recent challenge at DeNami Design.

Here's the sketch (created by the very talented Ayana):

And here's my take on it:

The Season's "Tweet"ings Chickie Scene (N120) is one of my FAVORITE holiday stamps by DeNami Design! I just love how the chickies are all decked out in their fuzzy Santa hats and boots!! And those chickies with the long legs always bring a smile to my face! HA!

I created the background panel by repeatedly stamping Falling Snow (E94)(DeNami Design) in Frost White Color Box ink (Clearsnap) on Kraft cardstock (PTI). Reminds me of Charlie Brown's Christmas---LOVE IT!

We spent the week of Thanksgiving in San Diego visiting friends! We had such a fantastic time! I hope you all had a wonderful  holiday as well---full of yummy food, good friends, family, and happy memories!

I started working on my holiday cards today (thanks to a fun-filled inky day with my sweet friend, Michele)!!! I'm a little behind schedule, but such is life, right? Do you make holiday cards? If so, have you made them yet?

Thanks for stopping by today! I know this is a super busy time of year and I appreciate you taking a break to visit!!!

Kazan, Laura, and their DT are always a fantastic source of creative inspiration! This week the winners of the challenge will receive a spot on the 2 Sketches 4 You DT!!!!!! Woot! Woot!

Here's Kazan's sketch:

And here's my take:

The image and sentiment are from "Just My Type" (Lawn Fawn)! I just love that funky little typewriter! And, of course, I had to paper piece it! HA! I left off the "for you" part of the sentiment, and then positioned my patterned paper strips so that the number 4 and the letter U could be "circled."

Autumn

Hello! The theme for the most recent challenge over at Wee Memories is "Fall into Autumn." I absolutely LOVE everything about Autumn, so I just had to play along!

I also decided to use Jen Del Muro's most recent "Sketch For You To Try"----it's a super fun one!

Here's what I created:

The tree image is from DeNami Design, and let me tell you, I was in love with it the very moment I saw it!!! It's a bare tree, which is GREAT because it makes it so versatile! For this card I decorated it with a leaf image from DeNami Design's "Autumn Stamp Set" (a four-pack).

Here are some close-ups:

The sentiment is from "Friendship Jar Fall Fillers" (Papertrey Ink)! I love how it fits so perfectly in this little label I cut with my Spellbinder's Labels One. I added some twine for a rustic touch.

I also stamped some leaves on colored cardstock, cut them out, and popped them up on the card to add a little bit of dimension.

Are you seeing signs of Autumn in your neck of the woods? The aspen leaves are quickly turning golden here in the mountains and the nights are really chilly! It truly is BEAUTIFUL! Love it!

Thank you SO MUCH to everyone for all of the SWEET comments on my Cuddly Critters Blog Hop creations!! I hope you enjoyed hopping around and seeing all of the fabulous inspiration! I know I sure did! If you haven't had a chance to check out the blog hop yet, there's still time!!! Head on over to the DeNami Design Blog to get started! You have until 11:59 PST tonight to check out the participants' cards/projects and leave comments for a chance to win one of THREE gift certificates to DeNami Design!!!

Thanks for stopping by today!
