Espressly For You

Happy Friday, dear blog friends! Just wanted to pop in and share a card I made using Laura's sketch over at "2 Sketches 4 You." I always LOVE their sketches and all of the inspiring samples created by their DT!!! And after I post my card I really enjoy heading over there and checking out what the other participants made! Talk about a group of talented peeps!! Can't wait to see what everyone came up with this week ;)

Here's the sketch:

And here's my take on it:

When I saw this image (Endless Creations) at a stamp convention recently, I just HAD to have it!!! I also just recently purchased some Tuxedo Black Memento ink (Tsukineko) to try out with my Copic markers. (Up to this point, I'd always used Onyx Black Versafine and just let my images dry overnight.) I have to say I was really pleased with the way the Memento ink stamped, and I colored the image about 10 minutes after stamping it! YAY!

I created the patterned paper with the coffee beans all over it by repeatedly stamping a group of five coffee beans (Art Impressions).

Even though I'm not a coffee drinker, I LOVE to hang out at coffee shops and enjoy a hot tea (especially on cold or rainy days)! Ahhhh...hot tea and a good book...pure bliss! I'm thinking I need to make another version of this card with a "to-go tea drink!"

Hope you have something fun planned for the weekend! My cousin is visiting us from Pittsburgh! It will be her first time in Colorado, so we're looking forward to taking her hiking and sightseeing!

Thanks for stopping by!

You're A Keeper

Hello! Here's a card I created for the most recent challenge at Everything But The Kitchen Sink! Click HERE to check out all of the details and to see the incredible creations of all of the other participants!

The sketch:

My creation:

I have had this card in my head for quite a while now and finally stamped it out! :) I love those cute little fish stamps from Endless Creations! And I thought all of the layers in the sketch were perfect for creating the water and sky!

I drew the wavy layers freehand and then distressed them to add interest. At first I had a black line drawn for the fishing line, but it just seemed too harsh. So, I decided to cover it with floss. I kind of like the texture that it adds, and it's definitely a lot softer than the solid black line.

What do you think?

Oh...and one last thing before I go...the hummingbirds have returned to the mountains! YAY! Maybe SPRING has finally arrived!

Thanks for stopping by!!! Have a wonderful day!

Monsters

TGIF, blog friends!!! Here are a couple of more cards I created for the auction at my friend's school!

Aren't those monsters cute?!? This card was really simple to put together. I just used a combination of "Monster Parade" and "Monster Party" patterned papers (Reminisce), a scallop punch (EK Success), "Mega Happy Birthday" sentiment (Endless Creations), and some brads. Perfect for a little guy's birthday!

The next card also uses those same patterned papers with a slightly different twist:

I embossed the gray piece using my Epic Six machine and the QuicKutz polka dot embossing folder. After I cut out the monsters, I attached them to accordian-folded paper strips so that they "pop" out at the recipient of the card! HA!

And here's a view of the inside. I created the sentiment using Microsoft Word and then stamped the rocket image (Martha Stewart).

Have anything fun planned for the weekend? My husband and I are heading into Denver for breakfast at Devil's Food. Then we're going to check out the Indoor Farmers' Market on Santa Fe. It's all about local and organic products! I can't wait!

Kazan's Sketch #47

Hey there! Today I'm sharing a card I created using Kazan's Sketch #47 over at 2 Sketches 4 You. Click HERE to see the original sketch and lots of wonderful creations from the DT and the challenge participants. If you're ever in a creative slump and need some inspiration, this sketch challenge is a fabulous place to start! And...this week is extra special because DeNami Design is the sponsor and is offering up a super sweet prize! I LOVE their products!!!

I stamped my little Leafy Sprig (DeNami Design) a bunch of times in VersaMark ink and then heat embossed them with "Powder" Zing! Embossing Powder (American Crafts). I heat embossed the Dots (Endless Creations) and the Demi Double Circle (DeNami Design) with "White" Zing! Embossing Powder. The white and aqua papers are metallic cardstock (The Paper Company), so they have lots of shimmer to them.

Here's a close-up:
