EBTKS Sketch Challenge #21

Wow! It's been such a LONG time since I've had a chance to participate in the Everything But The Kitchen Sink Challenge, and I'm happy to report that this time around I was able to join in! YAY! I love that the inspiration for their challenges comes from the very things we see around our homes every single day! For example, the sketch for this challenge was taken from Kelly Marie's washing machine! Cool, huh?

Here's the sketch:

And here's my take on it:

This card was inspired by Carly Robertson's card in the Sept/Oct 2010 issue of Paper Crafts Magazine (You can find it HERE). When I saw her card I immediately fell in love with it and thought I would try to create a similar "webbing" effect with the help of "For the Love of Dots" (Practicing Creativity Designs)! I also thought it would be the perfect opportunity to ink up my new "Halloween Stamp Set" (DeNami Design)! Don't you just love that adorable little spider? HA! Too cute!

Here's a close-up:

So, what do you think? Have you started to make any Halloween or Autumn themed cards yet? It feels like Fall here in the mountains today. It's very cool and foggy, and I've already spotted some gold aspen leaves on the trees! I LOVE IT! This is my favorite time of year!

Before I sign-off I wanted to share some photos from the Rubber Stamp & Scrapbooking Expo this past weekend in Colorado Springs! It was AWESOME! I finally got to meet my blog friend, Paulina, in person!!!! YAY! She is super sweet and uber talented! I spent a lot of time at the DeNami booth visiting Michele, meeting Paulina and Nami, watching Nami work her artistic magic, and literally staring in total amazement at all of their GORGEOUS sample boards and products! I also met Maria and had a GREAT time watching her and my friend, Jenny, demo at the Rubbernecker booth! They totally sold me on masking and those Distress Inks from Tim Holtz!! WOW! I also met a wonderful lady while I was waiting in line to get into the show. Her name was Donna and she was so kind she shared her coupon for $3 off of admission with me! I never caught her last name, but I believe she's from the Colorado Springs area. What a gal! Don't you just love all of the friendly people you can meet through this hobby?

Me and Paulina:

I couldn't resist taking a photo of these adorable button and ribbon cupcakes created by DeNami Design!!! What a CUTE idea!

You're A Keeper

Hello! Here's a card I created for the most recent challenge at Everything But The Kitchen Sink! Click HERE to check out all of the details and to see the incredible creations of all of the other participants!

The sketch:

My creation:

I have had this card in my head for quite a while now and finally stamped it out! :) I love those cute little fish stamps from Endless Creations! And I thought all of the layers in the sketch were perfect for creating the water and sky!

I drew the wavy layers freehand and then distressed them to add interest. At first I had a black line drawn for the fishing line, but it just seemed too harsh. So, I decided to cover it with floss. I kind of like the texture that it adds, and it's definitely a lot softer than the solid black line.

What do you think?

Oh...and one last thing before I go...the hummingbirds have returned to the mountains! YAY! Maybe SPRING has finally arrived!

Thanks for stopping by!!! Have a wonderful day!

EBTKS Challenge #12 - String

Hello! It's a beautiful, sunshiney day here in the mountains of Colorado! Today I have two cards to show you. The first is my take on the latest "Everything But The Kitchen Sink (EBTKS) Challenge," which requires the use of string. Click HERE for the challenge details (there's still time to play along)!

This card was really simple to put together. I used a scalloped notecard from the Yours Truly line at Archivers. I chose three bright colors of floss and wrapped them in a pattern around the notecard. The little scalloped notches hold the floss in place. Then, I finished it off with layers of punch-outs from my "Fresh Print Cherry" tablet (Deja Views). Simple. No stamping on this one (first time EVER, I think...wink!)! I left the card blank so that I can use it for any occasion (birthday, thank you, anniversary, etc.).

What do you think?

I also wanted to show you another card that I made for the auction at my friend's school.

This one uses a sentiment and the "Large Chickie" image from DeNami Design. Isn't he so stinkin' cute? I love how you can dress him up for different holidays, celebrations, seasons!! I made the hat from a scrap piece of patterned paper (SEI) and topped it with a little pom-pom that I had leftover from a craft I did with my students. I cut the cupcake from a piece of patterned paper in "The Sweet Matstack" (Die Cuts With A View). I used my Copic markers to add some shading and color to Mr. Chickie!

Leave me a comment and let me know what you think! I'd love to hear from you!!

And there's still time to enter for a chance to win my blog candy!!!! Click HERE for the details!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a FABULOUS day!!!!!

EBTKS Challenge #11

Hi there! The most recent challenge over at "Everything But The Kitchen Sink" is a sketch challenge, and it's a goodie!!!! There's still time to play along!! The challenge ends tomorrow (3/24) at midnight! Click HERE for all of the details and to check out the fabulous creations submitted by all of the participants!

Here's the sketch:

And here's what I came up with:

You'll notice that I flipped the sketch 90 degrees. I created the pattern on the left-hand side of the panel using the banner images from "Look Up!" (Practicing Creativity). I'm so happy with the way it turned out! Can't wait to try it with other color combos as well! The sentiment is from the "New Baby" stamp set by Martha Stewart! I think it fits perfectly with the hot air balloons and the color scheme!!!

Here's a close-up of the pattern I created:

The hot air balloon in the center was stamped on patterned paper, and then I adhered it with pop dots. The polka dot balloon was stamped on gray cardstock and adhered with double-sided tape. The solid balloon was stamped directly onto the panel.

One last view:

Let me know what you think! And click HERE to enter for a chance to win my blog candy!!!

We are in the midst of a crazy Spring snowstorm here in the mountains! It's GORGEOUS!!! I'm hoping we get enough to go on a snowshoe treck!!!!

Thanks for stopping by!

This apron stamp is one of my absolute faves!! It's from TooMuchFun Rubberstamps! I paper pieced it using papers from Cosmo Cricket's "Early Bird" collection!
