BOO!

I have A BUNCH of stickers in my craft studio that have been neglected for WAAYYYYY TOO LONG! So, the most recent challenge at CAS-ual Fridays was the perfect opportunity to bust into the stash and put some of those stickers to work!

The temperatures are starting to cool off here in the mountains (especially in the evenings) and the aspen leaves are just beginning to turn. So, I've got Halloween on the brain (not to mention some serious cravings for Reese cups...mmmmmm!)

The spider web is a sticker that I believe was part of some blog candy that I won from my sweet friend, Paulina, well over a year ago!!! SOOOOO happy that this challenge forced me to give stickers another try!!!

So...what do you think?

There's still time to play along in CAS-ual Fridays Challenge 17! The challenge ends tonight (Aug 31st) at 11:59PM EST! Click HERE for all of the details and for LOTS of inspiration from their DT and the other participants!!!

Thanks for stopping by!

The Old Pickup

Hi there! Today I'm sharing a card I created based on the most recent Tuesday Trigger photo over at the Moxie Fab World! Here's the inspiration photo:

LOVE LOVE LOVE this color combo! To me, this looks like a porch on an old country farmhouse. That, in turn, made me think of old fashioned pickup trucks (I know...my mind works in mysterious ways *wink*). So, here's what I came up with:

That little pickup truck is part of the Cars and Trucks Stamp Set TR28 from DeNami Design---TOTAL CUTENESS! I stamped and colored it twice with Copic Sketch Markers, cut both images out, and popped them up for dimension. Then, I added some Crystal Lacquer to the body of the truck and some sparkle to the headlight with a Spica glitter pen! The embossed brick background is a new (to me) Tim Holtz embossing folder that I bought during my visit to Artsy (our new local stamp shop in Colorado)!

I hope you like my card for today and feel inspired to get inky!!! Remember to head on over to the Moxie Fab World for all of the Tuesday Trigger details and to check out what all of the talented participants have made!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

DeNami Product Spotlight: Sweetheart Mimi

It's time for another Product Spotlight at DeNami Design!! Today we're featuring the newly released Sweetheart Mimi!!! I have always LOVED Mimi---she's so chic and stylish! Plus, she's lots of fun to color and/or paper piece!

I stamped Sweetheart Mimi onto an oval that I cut with my Petite Ovals Nestabilities (Spellbinders). After coloring Mimi with my Copic Sketch Markers, I flipped the Nestabilities oval upside down (so the smooth side was facing up), placed it on top of the die cut and used it as a mask. I then applied Rose Bud Memento ink with a sponge around the inside edges. I've seen lots of people use this technique in blogland, but had never tried it. I'm really happy with the results. Here's a closer look at Mimi:

This was also the first time I've ever used a doily on a card! I found these heart-shaped doilies at Michaels and thought they were a perfect combo with my new Martha Stewart Lace Heart Edge Punch!

So...what do you think? Ready to make some Valentine's Day cards? Be sure to visit the DeNami Design Blog for more inspiration from the amazing Design Team!!! And check out the on-line store for LOTS of fabulous stamps and supplies to help you create your Valentines!!!

Thanks for stopping by today and for all of your sweet comments!!!

The image and sentiments are from Love Buds by Stampendous! I bought this set last year, but never got around to inking it up! SOOOOOO happy to put it to good use now!!!!

A non-traditional color combo for a Valentine's Day card, but wouldn't this be cute for a little guy to give to his mom, auntie, grandma or special friend?

PDCC #65 - You're Tweet

Hey there! Have you seen the latest color combo over at The Play Date Cafe?!?! LOVE IT!!!! I'm really digging the whole gray + any other color these days---so super hip and trendy!

And here's my creation:

I just received the newly released Birdcage E143 and You're Tweet C82 stamps (DeNami Design) in the mail and had to ink them up right away!!! I also used the Single Tweety Bird A98 and a couple of the birdies from the Tweety Bird Border K83 (DeNami Design)! The birds on this border stamp are spaced really nicely, which makes it super simple to ink up individual birdies using a Dew Drop or Cat's Eye ink pad! Here are a couple of close-ups:

The layered notebook sheets (which I ended up liking) actually resulted from a mistake. In my original design I inked up the bird cages and birdies in London Fog ink. Well...once I had it all together, it just wasn't working for me. I decided that the bird cages and birdies needed to POP more and that Tuxedo Black ink would do the trick. I layered the new panel on top of the old notebook panel and folded up the edge for fun! Just goes to show that mistakes can sometimes lead to good things!

What do you think? I hope you like my card and feel inspired to create something today!!

On a personal note...today is a REALLY HAPPY DAY in the Petrella house!!! The Steelers won yesterday and that means...you got it...Pittsburgh's goin' to the Super Bowl!!! (said of course to the tune of the Steeler song...Here We Go!) WOOHOO! What a game!!! We watched it at our friends' house with some of my husband's co-workers! It was LOTS of fun! We wore our Steeler gear, brought along our Terrible Towels, and shared some Polish Mistakes---these yummy snacks that my Great-Aunt Lois always made for family get-togethers (including Steeler games) growing up in the Burgh!!! Another guy (who grew up in NY) and his family were all decked out in Jets attire! They even tracked down green tortilla chips (guacamole flavored) because they didn't want to bring anything GOLD (wouldn't want to look like a Black & Gold Steelers fan...HA!). His little girl (who's 5) said to me..."Oh yeah, well ALL my friends are JETS fans and even my stuffed animals are JETS fans!!" It was hilarious!

Okay...sorry for the LOOOONNNNGGGG post today! Hope your week is off to a FANTASTIC start too! Thanks for stopping by!

DeNami Design Gift Tag Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to your next stop on the DeNami Design Gift Tag Blog Hop!!! If you're on track you should have arrived here from Ayana's fabulous blog! If not, no worries, you can start at the beginning by heading to the DeNami Design Blog! And you'll want to be sure to check out each participant's blog and leave a comment because DeNami is giving away several gift certificates to their online store! YAY!

Here are two tags I created for Christmas presents that I'm sending to family this year!

I cut the tag from the Ellison machine at Archivers. Then, I created the background by repeatedly stamping the "Harlequin Border N112" (DeNami Design) and adding glitter to alternating diamonds in the pattern to give it some sparkle! The letters are stickers from Making Memories, and that yummy glittery button is from a bag of pink buttons that I won from a DeNami Design Challenge! I thought it was just perfect for this tag!

I popped up the little ornaments to add some dimension too!

For this tag, I created the background by repeatedly stamping the "Three Line Border N128" image (DeNami Design). Reminds me of a candy cane! Cute! Then, I used a Quickie Glue Pen (Sakura) to add glitter to the white stripes! The ultra adorable long-legged chickie is from the "Season's Tweetings Chickie Scene N120" stamp (DeNami Design). I just inked up one chickie within the scene and stamped him onto the tag. I also added some snow banks with glitter at the bottom although it's difficult to see in the photo. LOTS of sparkle on this one!!

I hope you like my creations and are inspired to create some holiday tags for your presents this year!! Thanks for stopping by! Your next stop on the hop is Jenny! I bet she's created something fantastic!

Celebrate Life

Hello there! Here's a card I created using the most recent sketch over at 2 Sketches 4 You:

And here's the inside:

I used the "Round Leafy Tree" image from DeNami Design, which is one of my favorites! The idea was to capture the four seasons that bring magic and wonder to each year of our lives. (Note: I used a mask to create the leafless tree for winter.)

I added a little sparkle to each tree with a Stardust Clear Gelly Roll pen (Sakura) and added "snow" to the winter tree by applying white glitter to the branches. Thanks for that idea, Michele! Confession time: I originally tried a white "Souffle" pen, but it didn't give me the effect I was looking for. I was expecting it to be white and puffy, but it never really fluffed up---must be the altitude. Ha!

The sweet little yellow & white baker's twine is from Whisker Graphics----LOVE IT!!!!!!

Hope you're having a FABULOUS week! Thanks for stopping by!

Home Tweet Home

Hello there! Challenge #7 over at Off the Wall Craftiness is to create a card/project using BIRDS. Here's what I came up with:

A few weeks ago I won "Card of the Week" over at 2 Sketches 4 You and part of the prize package included an incredible stack of BoBunny stickers from Shanna Vineyard! I have been itching to put these stickers to use since they arrived in the mail!!! The tag sentiment with the sweet little birdie is from one of these sticker sets ("Family Deerest"), and I thought it was the perfect starting point for this challenge!

The birdhouses (Hero Arts) are just stamped onto scraps of patterned paper and then cut out. A little ribbon, some twine, a button, and VOILA!

Hope you like it! Thanks for stopping by!

Tea Party

I made this card based on Kim Wilson's inspiration photo over at Off the Wall Craftiness and Jen Del Muro's most recent sketch at i{heart}2stamp! I have been wanting to play along with Kim's challenges for weeks now and FINALLY had a chance to do so. There are SOOOOOO many fabulous and inspiring challenges posted each week, and I have such a difficult time trying to fit them all in. (Anyone else having this problem?) So, this time around, I combined a couple of challenges.

Here's the inspiration photo (click HERE for the Off the Wall Craftiness challenge details):

And here's the sketch (click HERE for the SFYTT challenge details):

And finally, some photos of my creation:

I absolutely LOVE tea (both hot and iced)! A dear friend of mine recently introduced me to Teavana!!! Oooooo...have you heard of it? It's a total "tea experience." The walls are covered with shelves full of gorgeous cast iron tea pots and tea cups. And when you walk in a staff person takes you around this beautiful space to sample different tea blends. Then, you can order a cup of tea to drink right away...or, you can buy the loose leaf tea blends to take home! If you're a tea drinker, it's heavenly!

Thanks for stopping by today! Hope you're having a good week!

EBTKS Challenge #11

Hi there! The most recent challenge over at "Everything But The Kitchen Sink" is a sketch challenge, and it's a goodie!!!! There's still time to play along!! The challenge ends tomorrow (3/24) at midnight! Click HERE for all of the details and to check out the fabulous creations submitted by all of the participants!

Here's the sketch:

And here's what I came up with:

You'll notice that I flipped the sketch 90 degrees. I created the pattern on the left-hand side of the panel using the banner images from "Look Up!" (Practicing Creativity). I'm so happy with the way it turned out! Can't wait to try it with other color combos as well! The sentiment is from the "New Baby" stamp set by Martha Stewart! I think it fits perfectly with the hot air balloons and the color scheme!!!

Here's a close-up of the pattern I created:

The hot air balloon in the center was stamped on patterned paper, and then I adhered it with pop dots. The polka dot balloon was stamped on gray cardstock and adhered with double-sided tape. The solid balloon was stamped directly onto the panel.

One last view:

Let me know what you think! And click HERE to enter for a chance to win my blog candy!!!

We are in the midst of a crazy Spring snowstorm here in the mountains! It's GORGEOUS!!! I'm hoping we get enough to go on a snowshoe treck!!!!

Thanks for stopping by!

It's SFYTT Time Again!

Hi there! Here's a card I created for the most recent "Sketch For You To Try" (SFYTT) hosted by Jen Del Muro at i{heart}2stamp. I know I've mentioned this before, but I have to tell you again---Jen is giving away a FANTABULOUS prize package at the end of this month!! Seriously...head over there and check out the photo of the goodies she's giving away!!! I guarantee it will have you drooling and wanting to get in on the action!

Meet "Tatiana KETTO" (Stamping Bella)!! Isn't she cute and sassy?!?! I colored her with Copic Sketch Markers (aside from the bright pink...I don't have a bright pink Copic in my collection yet, so I used my bright pink TUL marker instead. It's a broad tip, so it was really tricky getting into all of those small spaces....shweeew...glad that's over with). I used a glaze pen on her hair to give it some shine and added some sparkle here and there with a Stardust Clear Gelly Roll Pen. Here's a close-up:

Those colorful little flower brads are from Making Memories. I received those as part of a blog candy package from the super sweet Paulina!! (Thanks, Paulina!!!!)

Do you have anything fun planned for the weekend? I'm hoping to make a bunch of cards, including some submissions for publication. FUN!!!
