HB2U

Hi there!!! Today is my Dad's BIRTHDAY (and mine too---yep, I was born on my Dad's birthday---pretty nifty, huh?!?!)! Here's the card I created for his special day!!!

Since I live in CO and my folks live in PA, we communicate via e-mail quite a bit, so I thought the new Computer Chickie from DeNami Design would be a SUPER FUN image to use on my Dad's card! The "graph paper" background was created using DeNami's new Basic Borders Stamp Set! And I made my own sentiment using Smitty's ABCs (Lawn Fawn)!

Just a reminder, too, that all of the stamps and products from DeNami Design's NEW RELEASE are NOW AVAILABLE in their on-line store!! Click HERE to check it all out!!!!

Happy Birthday, Dad! Hope you have a FANTASTIC day!!! LOVE YOU!

I'm thinking I definitely need to make some more of these for the holiday season!

Many Thanks

Hello! Our friends/neighbors recently had a party to celebrate the completion of the main floor of their mountain home! They've been working on the house for five years and have done a lot of the finishing work themselves. It's an absolutely gorgeous home! You can definitely tell that a TON of heart and soul was put into every detail!

I wanted to send them a special thank you note for their hospitality and thought this was the perfect opportunity for me to ink up a stamp that I bought back in May when we traveled to Santa Fe, NM. The image is totally reminiscent of the southwestern style my friends have incorporated into their home!

I hope they like it! What do you think???

Party Invitations

Hey there! My friend's little guy is turning two in October, and she asked me to make the invitations for his birthday party! They're having the party at a farm/orchard with lots of super fun activities including a hay bale maze, tractor-pulled wagon rides, apple picking, visits with the farm animals, etc.

Here's the final product:

I used LOTS of ADORABLE DeNami Design stamps (see supply list at the end of this post) to create the little scene and used Harold's ABCs from Lawn Fawn to stamp out the animal sounds! As you can see, the outside says, "oink, baa, neigh, moo" and on the inside it says, "Jonathan is turning TWO!" followed by all of the party details! Just a FUN little rhyme I made up especially for Jonathan!

I stamped the barns once on each invitation itself and again on a separate sheet of white cardstock. I colored the barns on the separate sheet, cut them out, cut/scored the barn doors and then adhered them over the barn images stamped on the invitations. This way, the door on the barn opens to reveal a little sheep hiding in there!

I made 16 of these, and it was a total blast!!! My friend is absolutely thrilled with the invitations, and I hope you like them too!

Thanks for stopping by!

MOOchas Gracias

***This is my second post for today. For the winners of my blog candy giveaway, please scroll down to my earlier post. Thanks!

Hello! Dropping by to share a card I made for the most recent CAS-ual Fridays Challenge! Their challenges always have a SUPER FUN twist to them and this one was no exception! In honor of International Literacy Day the challenge was to create a card using a BOOK as your inspiration and the color combo: black, white and red! CLEVER,right?!?!

I'm a licensed elementary school teacher and one of my favorite children's books is Click Clack Moo: Cows That Type! It's a HILARIOUS story, the illustrations are AWESOME, and kids LOVE IT!!

And here's my creation:

That DARLING cow is from the set, For All It's Worth, by Market Street Stamps!! I JUST LOVE HER!!! I created the "note" using Smitty's ABCs (Lawn Fawn) and then tacked it up to the woodgrain embossed (Tim Holtz) panel with a little thumbtack image from Just My Type (Lawn Fawn)! The patterned papers are from Echo Park!

SIDE NOTE: My husband turned in his application for tenure at the university. Now we just have to wait until April for the committee to announce their decision. Keep your fingers (and toes) crossed for us! He's been working REALLY hard, so I wanted to do something special for him to celebrate this first hurdle. I made him his favorite dinner, chicken marsala with mashed potatoes and peas. And we opened a bottle of almond champagne that our sweet friends from San Diego had given to us in anticipation of this occasion.

Thanks for stopping by!

Tuesday Morning Sketches 109

Happy Friday! Just popping in really quickly to share a card I made for the most recent Tuesday Morning Sketches challenge!

Here's the SUPER FUN sketch:

And here's my take using the DARLING little owl image from Critters in the Forest (Lawn Fawn) and some yummy FALL-themed papers by Imaginisce!

I just LOVE this color combo---a hip and trendy spin on the traditional Autumn color palette!

Do you have anything FUN planned for the holiday weekend?!?! I hope you have a chance to relax, unwind, and do something you truly enjoy!!! My husband's university actually has class on Monday, so it's just a normal weekend for us. A visit to the farmers' market and a GOOD hike are definitely on our agenda!! Looking forward to it!!

BOO!

I have A BUNCH of stickers in my craft studio that have been neglected for WAAYYYYY TOO LONG! So, the most recent challenge at CAS-ual Fridays was the perfect opportunity to bust into the stash and put some of those stickers to work!

The temperatures are starting to cool off here in the mountains (especially in the evenings) and the aspen leaves are just beginning to turn. So, I've got Halloween on the brain (not to mention some serious cravings for Reese cups...mmmmmm!)

The spider web is a sticker that I believe was part of some blog candy that I won from my sweet friend, Paulina, well over a year ago!!! SOOOOO happy that this challenge forced me to give stickers another try!!!

So...what do you think?

There's still time to play along in CAS-ual Fridays Challenge 17! The challenge ends tonight (Aug 31st) at 11:59PM EST! Click HERE for all of the details and for LOTS of inspiration from their DT and the other participants!!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Lawnscaping Challenge #15

Hey there! First of all---THANK YOU SO MUCH for all of your sweet comments on the DeNami + Lawn Fawn Blog Hop!!!! You guys are THE BEST!

Today I wanted to pop in really quickly to share a card I made for the most recent Lawnscaping Challenge!!! I feel like it's been SOOOOO LONG since I've had a chance to participate in any challenges! I'm really looking forward to getting back into the blogland groove!!

Here's my creation:

I've heard of "Christmas in July." Is there such a thing as "Christmas in August"?!?! *wink* I think it's the hot weather down in town. It's making me crave snow, which in turn gets me excited for the upcoming holiday season!

I distressed the snow banks, added a touch of shading with Copic Markers, and then added a touch of sparkle with some DeNami Extra Fine Sparklets Glitter! I also distressed the edges of the patterned paper panel! (Don't ya just LOVE those patterned papers?!?! Jillibean Soup...ahhhh...)

Here's a closer look:

I am in LOVE with this Critters in the Forest set from Lawn Fawn---so whimsical and sweet---and so fun to paper piece!

I "stitched" the patterned paper panels together with the Zigzag Stitch Border from DeNami Design! The sentiment is also from DeNami---just released on July 1----LOVIN' that playful font!

So...what do you think? Are you ready to play along??? Hop on over to the Lawnscaping Challenge Blog for all of the deets!

Thanks for stopping by! Hope you're having a FABULOUS weekend!

DeNami and Lawn Fawn Day #2

Hey there! Welcome to your next stop on the DeNami Design and Lawn Fawn Blog Hop!! If you're on track you've arrived here from the UBER talented Lea Lawson's Blog! If not...no worries, just click HERE to head to the Lawn Fawn Blog so you can start at the beginning!

DeNami Design and Lawn Fawn are two of my VERY FAVORITE stamp companies, so I had an absolutely FANTASTIC time creating projects for this hop!!! Both of these companies have super duper cute and whimsical images which really work well together!! Today I'm sharing 4 cards I made using a combination of DeNami and Lawn Fawn goodies!!! (Note: I've included a complete supply list for each card at the end of this post.)

Here we go:

The Large Winter Tree from DeNami looks AWESOME dressed up with the tiny leaves from Lawn Fawn's Critters in the Forest! And that sentiment is a perfect fit for this spunky little owl! I made the hills using VersaMark ink and DeNami's Rainbow image! And I just couldn't resist adding some of those fabulously cute mushrooms to complete the scene!!

This second card features Harold's ABCs and Schoolhouse Backdrops from Lawn Fawn and the Small Apple and Medium Polka Dots from DeNami! I LOVE the playful font of Lawn Fawn's alphabet sets, and they are SO SUPER EASY to line up, which makes it totally simple to create your own sentiments and backgrounds! And that SWEET little apple is the perfect size for paper piecing (one of my FAVORITE techniques!)!!! I think this card would be a GREAT thank you note for a teacher!

DeNami and Lawn Fawn both have whale images, and the BEST PART?!?!...they face opposite directions!!! YAY!!! So, they work perfectly together on a single layout! ADORABLE!!!

And just look at how great Lawn Fawn's Heebie Jeebies set works with DeNami's newly released Friendly Ghost and their Halloween Stamp Set!!!

Thanks for hopping along with us!!! Remember to leave a comment here and then head on over to the DeNami Blog for your last stop on the hop!!! There are FANTASTIC prizes up for grabs!!!

Have a FABULOUS day!!!

CASING

Hi there! Just a quick post today to share a card I made for the most recent Lawnscaping Challenge! I'm cutting it really close to the deadline, so no time for chit-chat! HA!

I chose to case THIS card from Kelly Marie! And here's what I came up with:

I handstamped the main background using the little paper clip image from Just My Type (Lawn Fawn) and three different colors of ink (see supply list below). I coated the keys and space bar with Enamel Accents (Ranger)!! I have LOVED what Karen Baker has been creating with Enamel Accents, so I HAD to buy some! (Thanks, Karen!) Handy tip for anyone who lives at high altitude (I live at 9000 feet): the Enamel Accents will start oozing out of the bottle immediately upon opening it. Just hold it over a scrap piece of paper for a little while and it will eventually stop oozing on its own. Otherwise it will be coming out too quickly to control and will end up getting all over your project (Yep...had to restamp my typewriter after making a bit of a mess the first time around! Worked perfectly, though, after I let it settle down. You'd think after having experience with exploding yogurt and ice cream that grows beyond its packaging that I'd know better, but oh well *wink*)

I did a lot more distressing on here than I typically do. I think I did an okay job, but not great---definitely need some practice. Any tips from all of you expert distressers out there? What's your favorite ink to use for distressing?

Thanks for stopping by today!

Repeat Impressions CASE #N10

Happy Friday! Today I'm sharing a Thanksgiving card I created for the Repeat Impressions CASE #N10 Challenge.

The cornucopia image is from Lawn Fawn, and I colored it with my Copic Sketch Markers. Then, I added some sparkle with a Clear Stardust Gelly Roll pen to play off of the glitter on the patterned paper.

I'm actually taking my very first Copics class tomorrow in Boulder! I'm so excited!! Hopefully I'll learn some good tips/tricks to improve my coloring skills! I feel like I do an okay job, but there's definitely room for improvement! I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a GREAT weekend!

Autumn Open House

Hi there! Just a quick post today to share some cute little invitations I made for a get-together my husband and I are hosting this month.

All of the images are from "Harvest Season" (Lawn Fawn). I actually won this set for commenting on the Lawn Fawn Blog (Thanks so much, Kelly Marie!!)! I was so excited to finally have a chance to ink it up! I especially love the large whimsical pumpkin and outlined leaves----so perfect for paper piecing (my favorite technique)!

Now, in hindsight I would have created an additional invitation with a fake address and phone number for photgraphing, but of course I didn't think of it at the time. It wasn't until literally minutes ago when my husband said, "Are you going to post that on your blog?" that the idea even crossed my mind. So, I just used the erase tool in Photoshop. Not the prettiest thing, but I'm sure you can use your creative imaginations and visualize an address and phone number in those spaces *wink*! Thanks for your understanding. I'll try to think ahead next time.

Here's a close-up of the paper-piecing:

The patterned papers are from: "2008 Bitty Box Basics" (Papertrey Ink), "Autumn Sparkle" (Karen Foster Design), and "Dotty Biscotti" (Papertrey Ink).

Thanks for stopping by today!

4 U

Hey there! If you follow my blog, then you know that I really enjoy playing along with the 2 Sketches 4 You Challenges. Kazan, Laura, and their DT are always a fantastic source of creative inspiration! This week the winners of the challenge will receive a spot on the 2 Sketches 4 You DT!!!!!! Woot! Woot!

Here's Kazan's sketch:

And here's my take:

The image and sentiment are from "Just My Type" (Lawn Fawn)! I just love that funky little typewriter! And, of course, I had to paper piece it! HA! I left off the "for you" part of the sentiment, and then positioned my patterned paper strips so that the number 4 and the letter U could be "circled."

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you have a fun-filled weekend!

Wavin' Hello

Hi there! This is the card I created for the most recent challenge over at 2 Sketches 4 You! It's based on this fabulous sketch by Laura Davis:

The dolphins, waves and sentiment are all from "Critters in the Sea" (Lawn Fawn)! I was so excited to finally have a chance to ink this set up a little bit! It's so darling! I can't wait to get the rest of those critters inky!

All of the papers are from Papertrey Ink. The twill was actually tied around some kitchen towels that I bought yesterday. Gotta love packaging that can be put to good use! HA!

Today I went on a little adventure to the Boulder Farmers' Market! I came home with some organic/locally grown salad fixings and this hanging basket:

Hope you're having a fun and relaxing weekend! Thanks for stopping by!
