Joy and Cheer

Today I'm sharing a holiday card I made using Sweet Sunday Sketch 249! I LOVE Karen's sketches and was so happy to have a chance to play along this week. Here's the sketch:

And here's my creation:

I absolutely ADORE this sentiment from Paper Source! (Confession: I bought it last year and this is the first time I've inked it up. Anyone else guilty of this type of behavior??? C' honest...) It has such a playful nature about it that pairs up nicely with these super duper cute penguins from Mama Elephant! Gosh, I am smitten with these little fellas! They totally make me SMILE!

I gave this card (in a coordinating envelope) to my friend, Rosemarie, yesterday...along with a gift basket. Here's a quick look at that:

Rosemarie and her husband, Dan, love to cook, so I put together a basket full of breakfast-themed items for them including: Buttermilk Pancake and Waffle Mix (from Red Mill), Butter Infused Olive Oil and Vermont Maple Balsamic (from Elevated Olive in Steamboat, CO---which I picked up on our recent ski trip to Steamboat), an OXO Spatula (from Whole Foods), and two Red Dahlia Villa Stripe Napkins (from World Market).

And yes...the photo was taken in my car because I am running completely behind on life (more on that below) and thus had to stop at Whole Foods to pick up the pancake mix and spatula on my way to meet Rosemarie yesterday morning. HA! Oh all worked out just fine.
On a personal note: As I mentioned above, I am quite behind on life. My husband's father passed away suddenly the week before Thanksgiving. It has been tough (and crazy busy), but we are staying strong and taking things one step at a time. On a much happier note, my husband is now on Winter Break, so we've been having lots of fun. We went to see the holiday symphony in our little town of Golden. We also just recently spent a long weekend in Steamboat---skiing, hiking, hot tubbin' and just relaxing and enjoying mountain life. And tomorrow we're heading to Winter Park for two days (an anniversary gift from my folks---THANKS, Mom and Dad!)----can't wait! Well, off to run some errands and tackle some more of the to-do list! Just wanted to update you on what's been happening in my world and the many reasons my blog has been so quiet recently.

Thanks for stopping by!
Hope you're having a festive holiday season!

Happy Holidays!

Hello there! Today is an EXTRA SPECIAL day! DeNami Design and Catherine Pooler of Stamp Nation are teaming up for a Sketch Challenge and some FANTASTIC prizes!!!
Check out the DeNami Design Blog and Catherine Pooler's Blog for all of the details. We would love to have you join in on the fun!

Here's a card I made using the sketch for this challenge:

I absolutely ADORE the newly released J153 Chickie Christmas Garland from DeNami Design! Those chickies are just so stinkin' cute in their Santa hats!!!

For my focal point, I stamped the image three times, tilting it at a slightly different angle each time and stamping off of the panel to capture just parts of the image at the top and bottom. I added color with markers and some sparkle with a clear Wink Of Stella pen. I LOVE how it shimmers in real life! So festive! I embossed my red cardstock panel with the DA-1218-36 Diagonal Stripe Embossing Folder. The banner was die-cut, stamped with F164 Happy Holidays and then adhered to the card with foam tabs. And of course I couldn't resist adding a few 4mm Sparkling Clear Sequins as a finishing touch.

Here's a closer look:

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you like my card and feel inspired to play along with this super fun sketch challenge! Can't wait to see what you create!

Peace Hope Joy

Today I'm playing along with the most recent CASology Challenge. The theme is FESTIVE. When I think "festive" I think snowflakes and all of the magic and wonder of the holiday season---a perfect fit for this brand new sentiment from DeNami Design called Peace Hope Joy.

I've seen a few stampers in blogland use this technique of stamping images first in white ink and then stamping them again (slightly offset from the first image) in color. I thought I'd give it a try with the snowflakes on this card, and I have to say, I really love the results! Here's a closer look:

I also added in some little dots with a white gel pen for a little extra something.

What do you think?

Thanks for stopping by today! If you'd like to learn more about this technique Julie Ebersole has a video HERE and Dawn Woleslagle has a video HERE. (A big THANK YOU to these girls for their inspiration!) can check out DeNami Design's new release HERE!

Holiday Cheer

I am having SO MUCH FUN getting inky with the newest release from DeNami Design! (You can check out the entire new release HERE.)

Today I'm sharing a card I made for CAS on Sunday Challenge #46: Ribbon or Twine.

It's snowing here in the mountains, so I was inspired to create something wintery. Here's my card, featuring the brand new I71 Penguins In Igloo stamp:

I LOVE these little penguins!!! SO SUPER DUPER CUTE! And so trendy right now.

I created a 4.25" x 5.5" white card base, masked off a half inch border on each side and then stamped the Three Line Border repeatedly in red to make my stripes. They remind me of candy canes. I then cut a 3 3/8" x 5 1/2" panel from white cardstock. I stamped the image and sentiment and added color with markers. Then, I tied on some twine and adhered the panel to my card base with foam tabs. To finish, I added some dots of white enamel accents to look like falling snow.

Thanks for stopping by!

No Peeking

Today I'm sharing some simple tags I created using one of my FAVORITE images from DeNami Design's new release!!! (Note: You can check out the entire new release HERE.)

This, my friends, is the brand new CL-F245 No Peeking Circle Chickie! Isn't he absolutely DARLING?!?! And such an awesome stamp for whipping up super cute, yet super easy holiday projects!

I die-cut three tags from kraft cardstock. If you don't have a tag die/punch, you can cut pieces of cardstock to 1.5" x 2.5", snip the corners at an angle and punch a hole in the top. I stamped the CL-F245 No Peeking Circle Chickie three times in Tuxedo Black Memento ink onto white cardstock and colored the images with Copic Sketch Markers. I used a circle die to cut out the images and adhered them to the tags with foam tabs. To finish, I tied on some baker's twine.

Here's a closer look:

You can use these tags to dress up your holiday packages or even use them as a focal point on a card.

What do you think??? I hope you like my project for today!

Thanks so much for stopping by!
