Baby Boy

Happy Thursday, blog friends! Popping in really quickly today to share a card I created using the most recent sketch over at Card Patterns Sketch Challenge! Here's the sketch:

My friend is expecting her first baby (a boy) in May and her baby shower is this weekend! So, I made this card for her. Since I'll be delivering the card/gift in person I don't have to worry about the extra bulk of the clothespin.

I just LOVE that little onesie from DeNami Design! It's so much fun to paper piece!!! All of the patterned papers are from the Snips and Snails Collection by Doodlebug Design---ADORABLE!!!

So...we've been living without TV for a couple of months now. We cancelled it in preparation for our upcoming ADVENTURE (more details on that coming soon). And honestly, I don't think we'll ever re-up our TV subscription. Might sound crazy, but this has been the best little discovery ever! We're not missing it AT ALL. We still watch movies (rented via Netflix), and that seems to be just perfect.

And here's my creation:

My cousin recently had a baby girl, so I made this card for her!!! I wanted it to be as sweet as the photos I've seen of her little peanut, and I thought using this ADORABLE elephant image from DeNami Design would do just the trick!

I made the buttons at the top using a combination of a Martha Stewart button punch, and PTI's Buttoned Up #1 dies that I won from my friend Erin's blog AGES ago!!! (Thanks, Erin!)

Birthday Tulips

I'm back with a second post today to share a card I made for my friend's birthday! I used this GORGEOUS color story from the Play Date Cafe Challenge:

...and this AWESOME sketch from Card Patterns Sketch Challenge:

Here's my creation:

When I was at Archivers yesterday having a FABULOUS time getting inky with my sweet friends, Michele and Laura, I saw these patterned papers and couldn't resist buying them!! They're from the new Lost and Found Two: Rosy collection! LOVE them!!! And since my friend's favorite flowers are tulips, I thought this Brushed Tulips image from DeNami was a perfect choice for the focal point. I don't have a coral marker, so I paper pieced the tulips with Desert Coral cardstock (Bazzill Basics) and used that same color for my scallops too! Here's a closer look:

I stamped the sentiment inside the card this time around! I just LOVE this whimsical font!

Well...that's it for me...for today at least! HA! Hope you have a FABULOUS weekend!!

Under the Weather

Happy Thursday! Today I'm sharing a card I made using this AMAZING sketch from Card Patterns:

I LOVE wellies and totally wish I could justify owning a pair! They're so cute and trendy! However, here in the mountains we pretty much go straight from snow to summer *wink*! Of course, there's plenty of mud on the trails during run-off in June, but I'm thinking these boots aren't really cut out for hiking?!?! HA!

For this card, I paired up several DeNami Design images with some cute patterned paper that I've been hoarding for AGES! It's just so stinkin' cute I have a really hard time cutting into it! A shout out to my inky buddy, Michele, for letting me borrow that sentiment stamp! I think this is maybe the 4th or 5th time I've borrowed it----thinking I should probably just go ahead and purchase it!!!

Thanks for stopping by today! Be sure to head on over to the Card Patterns Blog for LOTS more creative inspiration!!!

Special Friend Blend

Hello! For today's card I used this DELICATE and PRETTY color combo from the CR84FN23 Challenge:

AND...this FANTASTIC sketch from Card Patterns Challenge #110:

Here's what I came up with:

I used Tea For Two from Papertrey Ink and some Anna Griffin patterned paper that I've had in my stash for YEARS (literally)! I created the tea bag tag by stamping "For You" (from Friendship Jar Fillers by PTI) onto a scrap of cardstock, inking the edges, and attaching it to a piece of cream embroidery floss. Then, when I paper pieced the tea pot, I tucked one end of the floss behind the patterned paper piece.

A dear friend of mine requested an assortment of cards to give as a gift to one of her friends. This is one of the cards for that set. I hope she likes it.

Thanks for stopping by today!

On a personal note: Last week my sister-in-law, her husband and our 3 nephews who live in Indiana spent their Spring Break with us! We had a TON of FUN----despite a few bumps in the road (one lost video camera, one dislocated and broken wrist, one cracked windshield, and one minor case of acute mountain sickness)! I think they're hooked on the mountains now, though, and are already talking about "next time!" HA! Here are a couple of photos from when Tony and I took the boys skiing/snowboarding at Copper Mountain:

Have a GREAT weekend!

Onesies

Hi there! I'm SO EXCITED to be the Guest Designer at Card Patterns this week!!! Their sketches are super fun and their DT always provides incredible creative inspiration!!! A BIG THANK YOU to the Card Patterns team for giving me this wonderful opportunity!

Here's the sketch for this week:

And here's my take on it:

I LOVE this patterned paper! It's from the Fine and Dandy: True Blue collection by My Mind's Eye, and I think it's so perfect for baby cards! The little onesie image and sentiment are from DeNami Design---ADORABLE! I just stamped the onesie several times on different patterned papers, cut them out, and used the clothespins to hang them from the twine!

The white portion of the background actually has embossed polka dots on it, which looks really cute with the polka dotty clouds. I wish they would have shown up better in the photos.

Thanks for stopping by today!!! Be sure to check out the Card Patterns Blog to see the FABULOUS samples created by the DT and for all of the details about how you can participate in this week's challenge!

I also added some Crystal Lacquer (Sakura Hobby Craft) to the bubbles to give them a more realistic bubble look!

Happy Birthday

Hi there! A couple of months ago I was the VERY lucky winner of TWO stamp sets from Practicing Creativity Designs!!! Today I used one of those sets, Nature's Wonder, to create this card:

I used Card Patterns Sketch #99, and I attempted to use the color combo from ColourQ Challenge #69. I used lavender ink (it's the only purple ink I own) and an amethyst V17 Copic Sketch Marker, but in the photo they look blue. Hmmm.

I was really happy with the way this turned out! I'm going to make more of these in different color combos---there's one combo in particular that I've already stamped out and LOVE, but I need to find a Copic marker that's the right match for it. Oh darn...more shopping! HA! I may even try adding a bit of distressing to give it a more rustic feel! Does that ever happen to you??? You finish a card and as you're preparing your post your mind continues to think of things you could have done differently?!?! Drives me crazy sometimes!

So...what do you think?

Thanks for stopping by!
