Tuesday Trigger: Mapping Color

Hello! Just wanted to pop in real quick to share a card I made using the most recent Tuesday Trigger photo over at Moxie Fab World! Click HERE to see how you can play along and to see all of the amazing submissions created by our fellow bloggers!

And here's my take on it:

When I saw the photo of the pillow, I immediately thought of the trunk of this funky little tree from "Wonderfully Whimsical" (Papertrey Ink). So that became my starting point. Then, I thought it would be fun to frame out my trio of funky trees using a similar pattern to the one on the pillow. I didn't have any patterned paper that fit the bill, so I sketched out a frame free hand and then used a ruler to create some stripey patterns. Then I colored them with Copic Sketch Markers using colors similar to those in the trigger photo.

Jazzy Paper Designs Inspiration Challenge #8

Today is such an exciting day for me!!! Why? Because I'm the Jazz Cat of the Week over at Jazzy Paper Designs! YAY! This is my first time as a Guest Designer, and I couldn't be more thrilled!!! Tenia hosts really fabulous inspiration challenges based on album covers---WAY COOL! Click HERE for all of the deets and to see the incredible cards created by the DT!!!

And here's my take on it:

The lines on the left side of the inspiration photo reminded me of the lines on a hot air balloon. And the lines on the right made me think of banners. So, I immediately thought of "Look Up!" by Practicing Creativity!

I embossed the two hot air balloons on the left side of the card using Zing! Embossing Powder (American Crafts). I stamped the third hot air balloon on "Lemon Bliss" (Bazzill Basics) cardstock. Then I toned it down a bit by coloring parts of it with my black Copic Sketch Marker. Afterwards I still felt like it was a bit too much yellow, so I paper pieced some teal cardstock in there.

My take on it:

I used "Background Basics: Woodgrain" (PTI) to create the background panels. Then I stamped over them with images from "Gratitude = Joy" (Unity).

 

The lines of the woodgrain reminded me of the sketch lines on the album cover in the inspiration photo.

I have been wanting to play along with the Jazzy Paper Challenges for AGES, and I'm so glad I finally did!!! Granted...it's 6 hours before the deadline, but you can let me slide on that, right?
