Hi there and welcome to another installment of Shop 52 Denver!!! If you LOVE to cook (like I do), then you are going to FLIP over this little gem:
Meet the Savory Spice Shop:
Avid home cooks and bakers, Mike and Janet Johnston founded the very first Savory Spice Shop in Denver in 2004. Since that time the business has grown to multiple stores in Colorado and franchises in CA, FL, NC, NJ and TX! I visited the original shop located at 1537 Platte Street, Denver, CO 80202 (right next door to Nosh Nest, which I spotlighted HERE). You can learn about the shop's other locations and/or shop on-line by visiting their website at http://www.savoryspiceshop.com/
This is such a charming little shop, and it smells heavenly! They sell a wide variety of spices, seasonings, extracts, sauces, etc! Their spices are ground fresh on the premises and you can purchase as little as a half ounce! Such a fantastic concept---how many of us have purchased an entire bottle of some spice or other for a new recipe only to make the recipe once and never touch that bottle of spice again? I know I'm guilty of that!! So, I LOVE being able to buy only what I need. Plus, this guarantees that your spices are FRESH!
They also have a really nice selection of specialty sugars that are perfect for using on toast, on cereal, on fruit, in coffee/tea, and in baked goods. I bought some Spiced Vanilla Bean Sugar, which tastes soooo good on buttered toast! YUM!
Each of the bulk jars are labeled with the name of the seasoning, the ingredients within that particular blend, and suggestions for how to use it. They also have "taster" jars, so you can sprinkle some of the spice onto your hand and sample it before you buy it.
Recipe cards can be found throughout the store, and the people who work here are incredibly helpful and knowledgable. The Savory Spice Shop website also contains lots of recipes and cooking suggestions organized by spice/blend, cuisine/type, and course/meal. Looking for the perfect spice blend to spruce up your chicken dish? Head to the Savory Spice Shop website, click on Shop Savory, and then click on Blends. You'll be presented with suggestions on which blends to use and how to use them! So cool!
These little spice packages are great gift ideas for hosts and hostesses!
They even sell extracts and sauces.
And there you have it...Savory Spice Shop! I hope you enjoyed this little adventure and will soon be able to either visit a Savory Spice Shop in your area or check out their website! And if you discover a new favorite recipe or spice blend from Savory Spice Shop be sure to share it with me!!! And I will do the same! As I said earlier, I LOVE to cook and really enjoy trying out new recipes!
Going forward I'll be having MONTHLY Shop 52 Denver giveaways!!! At the end of each month I'll announce the prize, which will be something purchased from one of the shops spotlighted that particular month!
