Embellish Nautical Challenge

It's time for a new challenge over at the Embellish Magazine Blog!!! YAY!!! This time around it's a nautical theme and just LOOK at that FABULOUS color combo!!!

Here's what I came up with:

DeNami Design is sponsoring this challenge, so several of us DT gals are playing along for fun!!! The prize is a gift certificate to DeNami Design's online store, so you DEFINITELY want to make sure you play along!!!

DeNami has some SUPER CUTE nautical-themed sets! Here I used the adorable little boat from the Under the Sea Stamp Set and the anchor and "AHOY" from the Nautical Stamp Set! I LOVE these little stamp sets because they are so versatile!!! You can use them to create backgrounds, borders or focal points, and they are the PERFECT size for tags, labels, place cards, etc!!

The rope border is something I drew freehand using a white gel pen! Easy peasy---just a series of interconnecting forwards and backwards c's basically! Here's a closer look:

I've seen a number of my blog friends create these popped up port holes, and I thought it was the perfect way to bring in the chocolate brown piece of the color combo! Thanks for the inspiration, blog buddies!!!

Embellish Rainbow Challenge

Here's my rainbow inspired creation:

I LOVE layering the small polka dot heart (from the Hearts Stamp Set) with the Small Scallop Heart, and I thought they'd look extra sweet in a rainbow of colors! I popped up the polka dot hearts for dimension too!

I stamped "With all my heart" onto kraft cardstock and then embossed it with polka dots. That sweet little heart button is something I found in my button stash---works perfectly as a third layer in the violet heart!

Embellish Magazine Background Stamping Color Challenge

Hey there! The most recent Embellish Magazine Challenge is to use background stamping and the colors black, white, gray & yellow. I LOVE this color combo!!!

Here's what I came up with:

I repeatedly stamped the circle background builder from "For the Love of Dots" (Practicing Creativity Designs) and then colored a pattern using my Copic Sketch Markers. The ribbon is from American Crafts. I kind of scrunched it up on the ends to make it thinner and to make the one flower stand out.

If you look closely within the circles you can see some metallic accents that I added. Those are "Nailheads" (Mark Richards). Pretty cool, huh? Here's a close-up:

The sentiment is from "Signature Greetings" (Papertrey Ink).

Sending Well Wishes

Happy First Day of Autumn! When I saw that the most recent challenge over at Embellish Magazine involved paper piecing I was so excited!! As you all know, it's one of my favorite techniques, and I use it all the time! So, I combined the colors & technique from the Embellish Challenge:

And here's what I came up with:

The image is "Better Get Better" from the Pure Innocence line at My Favorite Things. I love this little cutie! I paper pieced her dress, her stockings, and the heart in her hair with "Old World Cabbage Stew Paper" from Jillibean Soup. I also paper pieced her little teddy bear with a scrap of kraft cardstock that I had in my stash.

The strip at the top is washi tape that I purchased from The Tinted Mint. Love this stuff! It's so much fun to incorporate into projects!

I used a white gel pen to color in the bandages on the teddy bear. And the buttons are from Basic Grey. I was originally just going to use one (at the top), but then I couldn't resist putting those teeny tiny ones in the corners. HA!

I hope you are having a wonderful start to the Autumn season! And I hope you have a chance to get outside and enjoy all of the beauty this season has to offer! I went hiking with my neighbor this morning and it was fabulous! An absolute carnival for the senses! Nature is so remarkable!

Embellish Parties Color Challenge

The most recent challenge at Embellish Magazine is to create a party-themed card/project using the colors: black, white, red, and kraft. The sponsor this time around is DeNami Design, and there's a FABULOUS prize up for grabs!!!! Click HERE for all of the details and to see the amazing creations of all of the other participants!

This could be used as a card for just about any occasion OR as an invitation. Just include the party details (date, time, location, etc.) on the inside!

I created the design on the panel by repeatedly stamping one of the images from "For the Love of Dots" (Practicing Creativity)! Then, I colored in a pattern using my red and black Copic Sketch Markers! I had such a blast working with this stamp set!!!! I LOVE to color---I find it to be so relaxing. I could honestly sit and color these dots for HOURS on end! (And...I just might do that! Ha!) I can't wait to make more creations with this set using different colors, patterns, and dot combinations! FUN, FUN, FUN!!!

The sentiment is also from "For the Love of Dots." The outline of each letter is made up of teeny tiny dots----isn't that super cute?!?! I filled it in with my Startdust Clear Glitter Pen to give it some sparkle!

Two In One

Hello! Just wanted to pop in really quick and share an Easter card with you! I made this for two challenges: Jen Del Muro's "Sketch For You To Try" and Embellish Magazine's "Embellish Borders Color Challenge."  

I drew the egg freehand on shimmery white cardstock (Bazzill) and then decorated it with glittery "Bunny Hop - Fancy Frills and Icons" stickers (Doodlebug Design). I created the scallops using my scalloped-scallop border punch (EK Success). I scored horizontal lines into the top green layer (although it doesn't show up very well in the photo).

 I just found out that one of my closest friends is coming to visit us over Easter break!!! I'm so excited! She and her husband and their two little guys will be staying with us for five days, including Easter Sunday! Tony and I don't have any kids (yet), so this will be the very first time the Easter Bunny will visit the Petrella household! Oh, it's going to be SUCH FUN!!

Embellish Hearts Color Challenge

Happy "Over the Hump" Day!!! This morning I made this card for the most recent challenge over at Embellish Magazine's blog! Click HERE to see all of the details and to find out how you can participate! The challenge was to use hearts and the colors: red, black, and pink to create a card or other paper crafting design. What a fantastic way to get that Valentine's Day mojo flowing!!! In fact, if you're EVER seeking creative inspiration I highly recommend visiting Embellish Magazine's blog!! It's truly FABULOUS!

When I think of Valentine's Day, I think of glitter! Remember all of those wonderful valentines we made in school as youngsters? I was always covered in glitter from head to toe! Such fun! Well, I remembered I had some of this self-adhesive glitter lace in my stash and built my card around that! I also created the polka dot paper myself by stamping "Dual Dots" by Endless Creations in black ink on white cardstock. I hope you like it!
