A Mini Photo Tutorial

A little while back I posted THIS card, and since then, I've had several requests for a tutorial on how I created my paw print chevron patterns. Well, I finally had a chance to put together a mini photo tutorial on this technique AND as a bonus (for your patience), I created a couple of baby cards using this same process and a button stamp.

Here's a peek at the finished card (same as before but I used a puppy image instead of a kitty image on my focal point):

To create the paw print chevron panel, cut a 4.25" x 3" white cardstock panel. Starting from the top of the panel draw really light horizontal pencil lines at .5", 1.5", and 2.5". On the top line measure (from left to right) and make a mark at 1.5" and 3". Repeat the same on the second line. Then, on the second line measure (from left to right) and make a mark at .75", 2.25", and 3.75". Repeat on the third line. Use your ruler to connect the markings, creating a chevron pattern. It should look like this:

NOTE: For this particular card layout, I actually ended up flipping the panel upside down before stamping. So, if you're recreating my exact layout, you'll want to flip your panel upside down before proceeding. 

Next you're going to stamp your paw prints. TIP: I found that it works best to stamp the images at each of the points first (with the point at the center of the image) and then fill in the spaces in between. Since this is a wood-mounted stamp, I also use a Stamp-A-Ma-Jig tool to help with the placement of each image.

 

Erase your pencil lines and there you have it!!!

I found that these same measurements work for many of DeNami Design's "A" sized images (the letter indicators are marked on the sides of the wood-mounted stamps)! So...I couldn't resist trying out some button chevrons as well!!! Here are the results:
