A few months ago one of my friends asked me to design the invitations for her niece's Sweet 16 birthday party. (How exciting!! My first commissioned design assignment!!) Her niece wanted a princess theme in light blue with sparkles. I came up with several different designs. Here's the one her niece selected.
I cut a little notch in the bottom flap that the top flap could slide into. This was then hidden under the fancy square embellishment. Here's a close-up of the notch.
Here's the inside of the invitation. Note: I used my Photoshop tool to cover up the phone number and e-mail address for this blog post.
The edge was created with the "Scallop Diamond" punch by ek success. I thought it had such a "princess" look to it :) I used a lot of metallic and shimmery papers to give Candice the sparkle that she really wanted. For example, the outside of the invitation is "Arctic Snow Metallic" (ANW Crestwood). The silver papers are "Bling Tiara" (Bazzill) and Cool Metallic (The Paper Company). I also used glitter domes (they look like brads) and embossed the crown in sterling silver and the flourish with Zing! embossing powder. The velvet ribbon that wraps around the invitation also helps to give it a touch of "royalty!"
I had so much fun with this project, and the end results were a success!! I hope Candice has a fantastic time at her party tomorrow night!!
